27 Jul 2010, 09:05

The Engineering, Methods and Solutions Service of the European Parliament (EP) began the evaluation of Akoma Ntoso XML Framework for its possible use by the European Parliament late in 2009. The task for them was to give a technical opinion on the Akoma Ntoso schema, whose use was being considered in the context of the e-Parliament programme of the European Parliament.

The e-Parliament program of the EP is to redesign the information system on which the current legislative process of the European Parliament relies on. One objective of program is to define an XML format that should eventually allow the representation of all legal documents: reports, draft report, position, resolution, making, etc. It is in this context that the evaluation of Akoma Ntoso was carried out.

We are proud to say that the evaluation has been completed and the Engineering, Methods and Solutions Service the scheme Akoma NTOSO schema has been validated it fit to use it at the European Parliament.

We are very happy as this will give us an opportunity to strengthen our collaboration with the European Parliament, whose expertise and experience will be very useful in the further development and deployment of Akoma Ntoso in all African Parliaments and indeed parliaments around the world that may consider Akoma Ntoso for use in standardising their own parliamentary, legislative and judiciary documents.
